Now, this week we’re going to hit you with a banger. By definition, a “banger” is a track you probably won’t get enough of this summer or a hit single you keep playing over and over in your cars, on your laptop, your phones or iPods. So without further delay, let’s get into this hot new track from our fellow Ohio neighbor from Toledo and R&B singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings. This brother always brings the truth when it comes to his songwriting skills. He sings with some serious old school soul, a bit of raspiness in his vocals, but it’s always in its purest form because he’s sharing the experiences straight from the tarnished, torn and tattered pages of his young and tumultuous life.

Three albums deep (plus one rare live project), Lyfe Jennings returns with “Statistics,” the first single from his fourth studio album “I Still Believe” which hits stores Tuesday, August 31st. It’s a tale in song designed to forewarn our brothers and especially our sisters how not to become a statistic by getting caught up in the streets, the hood life, the prison system, sexual promiscuity, infidelity and irresponsibility concerning your own life. Deep for R&B, huh? Yes, we thought you’d say that, but take a listen and watch the official music video for “Statistics” to experience the musical stylings and street tales from this jailbird turned successful singer/songwriter we now lovingly know as Lyfe Jennings.
